Capacity Building

Capacity building activities of the Creative Industries Division are based on facilitating stakeholders of creative industries sector, i.e., governments, enterprises, individuals, non-governmental institutions, etc., to appreciate the central role that could be played by intellectual property (IP) in enhancing the wealth creation potential of the creative industries sector.  In addition, capacity building activities includes promoting the use of the "WIPO Guide on Surveying the Economic Contribution of the Copyright-Based Industries".  Creative industries go beyond the copyright-based industries, they include industries whose success could depend on other IP tools like industrial designs, trade secrets, collective marks etc. It is therefore important for stakeholders in the creative industries sector to effectively use relevant IP tools in wealth creation.  The creative industries division is therefore actively engaged in the developing and participating in different capacity building activities which include seminars, workshops, roundtables and other appropriate forms of training.  Some of these activities have been organized by the Creative Industries Division while others have been jointly/independently organized with/by our partners.
