Loretta Dormal Marino is Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) of the European Commission.
In her current position, she is responsible for the directorates in charge of the international relations, covering multilateral and bilateral negotiations in agriculture and food products, as well as enlargement, neighborhood policy and international organizations. She was previously in charge of rural development and product quality policy, organic farming, environment and climate change issues within agriculture. She was responsible for the proposals on Rural Development within the Common Agricultural Policy for the period 2014-2020.
She began her career at the European Commission in 1983 in DG Economic and Financial Affairs. She then worked in the domain of the Structural Funds as well as in the field of education and culture. Before joining the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Dormal Marino held a post of Director at the Competition DG.
Loretta holds a degree in Political Sciences from the University of Padua, Italy.
