During the WIPO General Assembly in 2016 and the last week’s Session on Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore, discussions on how to make the TISC network effective for the technical and socio-economic development in Cameroon were held between the representative of the Minister of Industry, Mines and Technological Development and the representative of the Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation of that country and the Division of Access to Information and Knowledge. The TISC was officially launched in Cameroon in January 2013. To date, the national network numbers 8 peripheral TISCs, all of them universities. How to make the TISC network operational and effective was the concern raised during the above-mentioned discussion. In this regard, the representatives of the Government requested the organization of a TISC workshop in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 23 to 25 May 2017 |
