Assessment Mission and National Workshop on Increasing the Capacity and Pace for Technology Scouting, Absorption, Adaptation through a “hub and spoke” Structure (IP Hub) and Regional Workshop on IP Management around WIPORe:Search and WIPO GREEN |
Description: |
The Assessment Mission (February 29-March 4) will start with a one-day national workshop to orient stakeholders and in-country institutions on the concept, strategy and goal of establishing a networked community, applying a “hub and spoke” structure such as an IP Hub, as part of the long-term initiative to increase the capacity and pace for technology scouting, absorption, adaptation and innovation in the Philippines. It will be followed by two days of meetings with key stakeholders and the management of institutions in the Philippines which could form part of the IP Hub to determine the technology development capacity of institutions and develop an appropriate strategy for capacity-building and other interventions to create an enabling environment for the desired outcome through the IP Hub initiative. The Mission will end with a two-day regional workshop on IP Management around WIPO Re:Search and WIPO GREEN which is co-organized with the Global Challenges Division as part of its efforts to promote the two multi-stakeholder platforms WIPO Green and WIPO ReSEARCH in the region while generating enthusiasm among stakeholders on the path forward in creating a network community (March 3-4). This activity will be held back-to-back with the launch of the WEF-WIPO Inventor Assistance Program (IAP) and National Seminar on Patents and Technology, which targets the same group of stakeholders and would allow the discussions more media mileage and publicity in the country. |
