- Cette loi sur la protection des inventions biotechnologiques et l'amendement sur la protection des droits de nouvelles variétés végétales et animales concerne la brevetabilité des inventions impliquant des matières biologiques, végétaux ou animaux, microbiologiques ou d'autres procédés techniques, et des produits obtenus par ces procédés. Notamment, la brevetabilité est exclue pour les inventions contraires à l'ordre public ou aux bonnes mœurs, la découverte d'éléments du corps humain (comme la séquence ou la séquence partielle d'un gène), et variétés végétales et animales ou les procédés essentiellement biologiques pour la production végétale ou animale.
