EVENT 1 > 23-24 March 2018 As per communications of January 2018, the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) formalized a request for the hosting of an activity on copyright for the audiovisual sector, to be organized in March 2018 as a follow up to the seminar which was held in March 2017. This activity will be organized with the support of the regulatory bodies in Kenya for the audiovisual and broadcasting sector: the Kenya Film Commission (KFC), the Communications Authority – (CA) and the Kenya Classification Board (KCB), which were all approached by WIPO in 2017 to sensitize them on the role of copyright for the audiovisual framework in the digital age. EVENT 2 > 27-29 March 2018 WIPO has been asked to speak in the high level policy round table which will take place during the Kalasha International Film and TV market, to be held from March 27 to 29, 2018. This is the second edition of the Kalasha film festival organized by the government of Kenya, with the support of the French embassy in Kenya and Unifrance film, with the objective of developing an East-african trading content market for the region and for international partners interested in licensing rights in content from the dynamic audiovisual markets of East-Africa. |
