Within the framework of the program of technical cooperation between WIPO and the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV), WIPO organized, in cooperation with PRV and with the assistance of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), an Advanced Training and Advisory Program on Intellectual Property Rights in the Global Economy for the Least Developed Countries, in Stockholm, from May 21 to June 9, 2017. A copy of the approved memorandum for the above mentioned Training Program is attached for ease of reference. Following consultations with the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) of the Government of Malaysia and PRV, it is proposed to organize the follow-up to the Training Program in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from December 10 to 15, 2017. The letter confirming the commitment of the UPM to host the follow-up meeting of the Training Program is attached. The main purpose of the Follow-up Training Program is to learn from the experience of Malaysia in areas of innovation, science and technology and to share relevant experiences among the participants on the progress of individual country projects identified during the Training Program in Stockholm, in May/June 2017, and to formulate action plans for the future. Certificates will be prepared to be issued to all participants that will successfully complete the Training Program (those who participated in Stockholm in May/June 2017 and will attend the follow-up in Kuala Lumpur). A sample of the certificate is attached, for your approval. The provisional program, the cost estimate (Budget Program LDCs 0035-P3031) and the list of participants are attached. With the exception of the cost related to participants from WIPO and expenses for reception and other minor miscellaneous expenses, as necessary, the entire program is financed by Sida.
