Description: |
IPAS 3.1 was introduced by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in December 2014, which included, among other features, the bilingual/Arabic support for the storage, retrieval and processing of Industrial Property (IP) applications in the Industrial Property Administration System (IPAS), an automation requirement by Arab Industrial Property (IP) Offices. The deployment of IPAS has been rolling out in Arab States since that date with successful deployment and migration at number of offices. Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Syria and Yemen raised their interest for the deployment of IPAS during the past months. WIPO staff has restrictions to travel to these countries for security reasons, blocking necessary deployment missions to offices at the mentioned countries; this situation is not likely to change in the near future. In light of the above and as one of the alternatives to communicate technical assistance, it is proposed to hold a workshop in the region and invite concerned audience from IP offices at the mentioned countries to receive the necessary training on software deployment so that the offices can undertake the activity by themselves and start benefiting from IPAS for office automation. |
