Description: |
At the request of Ms. Patricia García-Escudero Márquez, Director of the Spanish Patent Office (OEPM) a series of meetings were scheduled in Barcelona on February 18 and 19, 2016 with her and members of her team, notably including Ms. Cristina Fernández Rivas, Director of Policy and Legal Affairs of the OEPM, to discuss future cooperation between Spain and WIPO. Among the topics to be discussed feature the Spanish translation of the Guide on WIPO Services and the possible punctual support of WIPO to follow-up activities to the successful round of WIPO roving seminars held in 2015. Organized in collaboration with the UK Intellectual Property Office and with participation of a close number of key local stakeholders, the stakeholder meeting held in London in December 2015 offered a good model to discuss key WIPO services and initiatives and take stock of the perspective of local users. On this basis it is proposed to organize a similar exercise, within the framework of an informal dinner, with key Spanish stakeholders, including the first Spanish PCT filer, the National Research Council (CSIC), key members of Licensing Executive International (LES) and two of the main research institutions in the country, namely the Parc Recerca, and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The meeting will be arranged in the framework of a working dinner and it is expected that 12 persons participate among OEPM representatives, local stakeholders and WIPO. |
