Title: Joint WIPO-Sida Training and Advisory Program on
Description: The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has successfully completed the first phase of the joint WIPO-Sida Training and Advisory Programs on Intellectual Property Rights in the Global Economy for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), which took place between 2004 and 2014. Following the evaluation by international consultants at the conference that was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in November 2014 to discuss the outcome of the evaluation, it was proposed to start the second phase of the training program.
During the second phase, the Program will be organized twice a year instead of once as it used to be during the first phase. The number of senior officials that will be trained during the second phase from LDCs will double as compared to the first phase (please see attached letter from PRV).
I would like to thank you for your support not only to ensure the continuity of the Program but also for doubling the number of senior officials to be trained under the new phase of the Program.
The first training program of the second phase will be held in Stockholm, Sweden, from November 22 to December 11, 2015, in cooperation with the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV) and the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).
The training program will take into account gender balance and composition of senior officials from the private and public sectors.
The objective of the Program is to increase the number and quality of intellectual property senior officials from LDCs, through a comprehensive training with a view to use IP for economic growth and development. The Program promotes familiarity with the legislation, enforcement, administration and management aspects of intellectual property, from a national, regional and an international perspective.
