The President of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office, Dr. Miklos Bendzsel, in his letter of June 16, 2015 requested “WIPO assistance in the organization of the Inter-Regional TTO Meeting “Working Together on Academic IP Commercialization in the Region,” to be held in Budapest, on September 15 and 16, 2015. Dr. Bendzsel indicated that the meeting will be organized in close collaboration with WIPO, the Hungarian IP Office, the Semmelweis University of Budapest and the University of Debrecen, with the participation of the Hungarian University Technology Transfer Forum. He further suggested the participation of representatives from South East Europe and Visegrad countries. The Director General responded positively to this request in his letter of June 26, 2015 On July 3, 2015, Mr. Giancarlo Caratti, Head of European Commission’s (EC) Joint Research Center (JRC) addressed a letter to the Director General requesting WIPO assistance and collaboration in the organization of the Danube Initiative Summer School on IP Marketing and Technology Transfer. Mr. Caratti made reference to the traditional collaboration between WIPO and EC JRC, in particular in the context of two projects: the “TTO Circle”, which is a collaborative network of the 25 biggest research centers in Europe, and the Danube Innovation Partnership Technology Transfer programs, in particular the organization of capacity building programs in the form of “summer schools” dealing with topics related to innovation, IP commercialization and technology transfer.
