Since November 2004 a number of Training and Advisory Programs such as, Intellectual Property Rights in the Global Economy for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Advanced Course on Industrial Property in the Global Economy and Advanced Course on Copyright and Related Rights in the Global Economy have been organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in cooperation with the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV) and with the assistance of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
Sida had been conducting assessment and evaluation of the ten year Training Programs (2004-2013) by professional evaluators. The results of the assessment and evaluations will be reviewed and the way forward will be discussed at the Seminar by all participants (WIPO, Sida, PRV and the selected senior officials from the countries). The Seminar will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from November 3 to 7, 2014.
Approximately seventy nine participants composed of selected senior officials (former participants in the above mentioned Training Programs) from developing and least developed countries, representatives from Sida, PRV, WIPO and the external evaluators of the Training Programs will be present at the Seminar.
The provisional program, and the cost estimate (Budget Programs LDCs 0035-P1248, Copyright Development Division 0108-P1240 and WIPO Academy 0038-P1269) are attached.
With the exception of the cost related to participants from WIPO and expenses for reception and other minor miscellaneous expenses, the entire program is financed by Sida.
