Within the framework of the program of technical cooperation between WIPO and the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV), WIPO organized, in cooperation with PRV and with the assistance of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), an Advanced Training and Advisory Program on Intellectual Property in the Global Economy for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs); National Technological Capacity Building, in Stockholm, from April 8 to 27, 2018. A copy of the approved memorandum for the above mentioned Training Program is attached for ease of reference. Following consultations with the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) of the Government of Malaysia and PRV, it is proposed to organize the follow-up to the Training Program in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 28 to November 2, 2018. The letter confirming the commitment of the UPM to host the follow-up meeting of the Training Program is attached. The main purpose of the Follow-up Training Program is to learn from the experience of Malaysia in areas of innovation, science and technology and to share relevant experiences among the participants on the progress of individual country projects identified during the Training Program in Stockholm, in April 2018, and to formulate action plans for the future. Certificates will be prepared to be issued to all participants that will successfully complete the Training Program (those who participated in Stockholm in April 2018 and will attend the follow-up in Kuala Lumpur). A sample of the certificate is attached, for your approval. The attached provisional program includes the participation of several technology experts who will present their experiences in key sectors which are of strategic and development related importance for LDCs such as aquaculture, solar energy, processing of carrageenan, and waste to wealth. The local speakers will also share their experiences in innovative startup companies utilizing technology for product dev |
