Assessing the potential of Khenchela Province

The WIPO Algeria Office is committed to assisting the producers of Chechar honey in the province of Khenchela in obtaining a collective trademark or certification trademark to protect and market the product.

Such protection would enable producers to benefit more from their traditional knowledge, the unique features of their product and the reputation stemming from its geographical origin.

It would also help to generate more income from the honey’s production, and thereby boost the local economy, help the environment and preserve ancestral traditions.
