June 22, 2017
On February 13 to 17, 2017, WIPO and INPI Brazil organized a Regional Training Course on Trademark for Examiners from Lusophone Countries in Africa. The Seminar took place in INPI premises in Rio de Janeiro and had the participation of twelve officials from five African countries (Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe). These participants were financed by FIT Brazil South (3 from Angola, 2 from Cape Verde, 3 from Mozambique and 1 from Guinea-Bissau) and by WIPO Academy (1 from Guinea Bissau and 2 from Sao Tome and Principe).
INPI participated with experts on trademark in order to offer lectures and encourage the discussion and experience exchange among the participants. This is a regular Professional Program of the WIPO Academy, and it was the first time for Lusophone Countries in Africa. The participants had the opportunity to improve their knowledge on the subject with the expertise of the examiners of INPI Brazil, and the lectures of some successful practices on trademarks. Furthermore they had the opportunity to exchange experience among their countries and Brazil.
