MCTIC to Align Policies with UN SDGs
June 22, 2017
Aligning the actions of the Brazilian government with Agenda 2030, established in 2015 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), is one of the objectives of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC). MCTIC began adapting its Research and Development Policies and Programs (Seped) by gathering officials to consider the matter on May 31, at the headquarters of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology in Brasília.
"Our mission now is to discuss how Seped interacts in and out of the Ministry with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," explained MCTIC's Secretary for Research and Development Policies and Programs, Jailson de Andrade.
"In that sense, since 2016, our departments and our coordinators have done a re-reading of our Secretariat to open it in relation to these SDGs. So today we are much better equipped for Agenda 2030 than we were in the past", said Mr. Andrade.
