WIPO Global IP Services Promoted in Beijing

A Workshop entitled “Effective Utilization of WIPO Global Intellectual Property Services” took place on October 22 and 23, 2015 in Beijing. Over 200 participants from across the country participated.

The Workshop was jointly organized by the WIPO Office in China (WOC) and the China Intellectual Property Society (CIPS). Some notable presentations included the following:

  • Mr.Chen Hongbing, Director of the WOC, made the opening remarks and gave a presentation on WIPO and its work.
  • Mr. Lu Guoliang, Deputy Director of the WOC, delivered presentations on the Hague System for Industrial Design Registration.
  • Ms. Zhang Junqin, Program Officer at the WOC, introduced the Madrid System and outlined some of the latest developments to the System.

Other speakers included government officials from the State Intellectual Property Office and the China Trademark Office as well as lawyers from law firms based in Beijing. Representatives of leading Chinese users of the PCT, Madrid, and Hague system including Lenovo Group and Huawei Technologies Company also shared their experiences of using these systems.

In addition to presentations there was lively interaction between speakers and the audience. WOC staff answered questions and participants demonstrated a keen interest in topics related to WIPO’s global IP services. Many were also interested in taking part in systematic training sessions on the same topic.
