IP Day 2016: Photography Exhibition and Group Walk

On April 15, 2016, Mr.Chen Hongbing, Director of the WIPO Office in China attended photographer Paul Caponigro’s “Straight Photography” exhibition, which took place within the framework of World Intellectual Property Day 2016 at the National Art Museum of China. The exhibition is organized jointly by the Images Copyright Society of China (ICSC) and the China Photographer Association.
The exhibition is on the theme of “Meditation in Black and White” and showcases more than 100 pieces of artworks by American photographer Paul Caponigro. During the speech at the opening ceremony, Mr. Song Mingchang, Vice President of ICSC introduced the recent development of protection of photographic works in China and reiterated the significant role that intellectual property plays in protecting and promoting creative arts in the digital era.
Group Walk
On April 18, 2016 a group walk took place at Shunyi Olympic Water Park to celebrate World IP Day. The Group Walk is a gathering of all members of IP sector in Beijing to celebrate this occasion in a healthy manner. The event was jointly organized by the Beijing Intellectual Property Office and the Shunyi District Government of Beijing.
Mr. Ji Lin, Chairman of China People’s Political Consultative Conference Beijing Committee, Mr. Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO), and Mr. Chen Hongbing, Director of the WIPO Office in China together with over 1000 participants took part in the group walk. The participants included officials from Beijing Government and SIPO, representatives from civil groups, law firms, media and volunteers.
Before the Group Walk, Mr. Wang Hong, Director General of the Beijing IP office delivered a speech. He said that April 26 marks the 16th World Intellectual Property Day which features the theme “Digital Creativity, Culture Reimagined”.
Mr. Wang then presented IP results in Beijing in 2015 and reaffirmed the government’s objective of developing the city into a science and technology innovation center through better use of IP.
