WIPO Mediation and Arbitration Workshop Organized in Beijing

The WIPO Mediation and Arbitration Workshop took place on May 17, 2016 in Beijing. About 60 participants attended the Workshop, which was aimed at providing an introduction to the practice of mediation and arbitration in resolving IP-related disputes, as well as presenting WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center (AMC) services.
Mr. Lu Guoliang, the Deputy Director of WOC said at the opening that the Workshop would promote understanding of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) for IP-related cases and help explain the utility of WIPO alternative dispute resolution services among Chinese stakeholders.
Resolving IP and technology disputes
Mr. Adam Rattray, Head of Information and External Relations Section, WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, made a presentation on WIPO’s experience with alternative dispute resolution for IP and technology disputes.
The participants discussed dispute resolution procedures, case administration services offed by WIPO AMC, etc. with Mr. Rattray.
Participants in the Workshop included national lawmakers, judges, government officials from patent and trademark review bodies, as well as lawyers.
The event was organized by the WIPO Office in China (WOC) in cooperation with Beijing Intellectual Property Law Society and Beijing Intellectual Property Court.
