Support Youth to Realize Their Innovative Potential

On April 20, themed as "Comprehensively Boosting China’s Competitiveness in the Area of Intellectual Property Rights",the 2022 China National Intellectual Property Publicity Week kicked off online. At the Launching Ceremony, Mr. Shen Changyu, Director of the Organizing Committee of the Publicity Week and Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), delivered a video speech. Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), sent a Congratulatory Message to the Launching Ceremony. Ms. Liu Hua, Director of WIPO Office in China (WOC), read the Message.

Mr. Daren Tang congratulated the launch of Publicity Week and welcomed China joining World IP Day celebrations under the theme of “IP and Youth, Innovating for a Better Future”. He said that we must support all sectors of society to realize their innovative potential, especially the young people. With the opportunity of World IP Day, he looked forward to working with partners around the world to develop new initiatives that will help young people harness IP to translate their ideas into world-changing products and services.

In his speech, Mr. Shen Changyu said that China would actively respond to the demands arising from the development of new areas and new industries such as big data, artificial intelligence and genetic technology, and keep improving the top-designs accordingly to better encourage the innovation and creativity. China will increasingly engage in the global IP governance and strengthen international cooperation on IPR protection to better benefit the world through innovation and creativity.

The 2022 China National Intellectual Property Publicity Week will be held from April 20 to 26 in a hybrid form. The Publicity Week is co-hosted by CNIPA and SAMR, and is joined by 18 relevant government agencies. The Publicity Week has established four branch venues respectively in Hubei, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu and Guangzhou. Heads of Chinese government agencies including the SAMR, the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC (National Copyright Administration), the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, the National Health Commission, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and China Association for Science and Technology attended and addressed the Launching Ceremony online. During the Publicity Week, government agencies of the Organizing Committee will carry out over 70 activities, helping to promote the IP awareness.
