Beijing, May 30, 2023 - The Global Forum on Intellectual Property (IP) Protection and Innovation, a parallel event of the Zhongguancun Forum, highlighted China's innovation progress. Ms. Liu Hua, Director of the WIPO Office in China (WOC), emphasized the role of IP and innovation in global development. The Forum promoted collaborations between WIPO and China while showcasing IP achievements.
Ms. Liu stressed the value of IP and innovation in today's global landscape. IP assets exceed $74 trillion, representing 90% of global business value and 54% of global listings. WIPO's international registration system has seen a 60% growth in IP applications over the last 10 years. The Digital Age and Deep Science waves are set to transform the way we work, live and play.
China climbed to 11th in the WIPO Global Innovation Index 2022. WIPO will collaborate with China in IP storytelling, partnerships, services, and policy tools to drive investment and competitiveness. The WOC will engage stakeholders and support innovation clusters. Ms. Liu presented the appreciation letters to the WIPO Green team in China for their achivements in the City Acceleration Project in Beijing.
The Forum was co-hosted by the WOC, Beijing IP Office, and ZGC Development Group, showcased China's IP progress. Renowned experts and scholars attended alongside 220 guests from research, finance, and media. Major accomplishments in IP utilization, protection, and innovation projects are announced at the Forum.
