Wuxi, September 9 - The 18th China (Wuxi) International Design Expo & 24th WIPO-CNIPA Awards for Outstanding Industrial Designs, co-hosted by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), and the Jiangsu Provincial Government, captivated attendees at the Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center. Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), addressed the ceremony, extending his congratulations to the 29 patent Gold Award winners and 10 Gold Award winners for their exceptional designs.
Tang emphasized China's transformative journey into a global technology and innovation powerhouse, which was shaped during five decades of fruitful collaboration with WIPO. He also showcased China's digital economy, now valued at 45 trillion Yuan, securing its position as the world's foremost hub for science and technology clusters. Notably, China takes a prominent role as a user of the PCT, Madrid, and Hague systems, contributing to international innovation and collaboration.
Moreover, Tang highlighted China's unwavering commitment to nurturing a balanced and inclusive intellectual property ecosystem. An astounding statistic emerged: nearly 25% of inventors in China's PCT patent applications were women, surpassing the global average of 17%. He also commended Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for their proactive use of intellectual property, enabling them to make significant strides on both domestic and global stages. In a resounding testament to their achievements, two Chinese firms, Westwell Technology and KissFuture Network Technology, clinched the prestigious WIPO Global Awards for their groundbreaking contributions in the fields of green logistics and virtual reality.
WIPO expressed appreciation for China's relentless efforts in establishing itself as a preeminent hub for intellectual property, innovation, and technology. The Organization eagerly anticipates future collaborations with CNIPA to further leverage the power of intellectual property in propelling economic and social development.
The China (Wuxi) International Design Expo, organized by CNIPA, stood as a national beacon for design exhibitions, information exchange, and international cooperation. Under the theme "Pool the Wisdom to Build the Future," this event featured grand award ceremonies and enlightening forums dedicated to the Hague System and the pursuit of high-quality development within the design industry.

These awards celebrated the exceptional contributions of patent owners and inventors to both technology and socio-economic advancement. In its 24th edition, this prestigious accolade honored 10 Gold Award winners for their industrial designs, showcasing China's remarkable innovations in aerospace, engineering, and medical fields.
WIPO Office in China Director, Liu Hua, along with distinguished officials including Shen Changyu, Commissioner of CNIPA, Lu Pengqi, Deputy Commissioner of CNIPA, Xu Ying, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, and Du Xiaogang, Secretary of Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, graced the opening ceremony and presented the 24th WIPO-CNIPA Awards for Chinese Outstanding Industrial Designs to the well-deserving winners, culminating in a celebration of innovation and excellence.
