Guangxi, September 16 - The China-ASEAN Cooperation Forum on Intellectual Property, themed “Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Goals: Regional Cooperation Boosting Innovation and Economic Growth”, convened in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Mr. Miao Qingwang, Vice Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Commissioner Shen Changyu of China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) delivered opening speeches. Ms. Wang Binying, Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), presented a keynote speech on “Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - Innovation for Prosperity and Human Progress”.
In her address, Wang Binying underscored WIPO's commitment to ASEAN, highlighting a recent Memorandum of Understanding signed between WIPO Director General Daren Tang and the ASEAN Secretariat, aiming to boost innovation and development through intellectual property (IP). She praised the exemplary IP cooperation between China and ASEAN as a regional model.
The China-ASEAN Cooperation Forum on Intellectual Property was jointly hosted by CNIPA and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in conjunction with the 20th China-ASEAN Expo scheduled for September 17-19. The Forum was attended by senior officials from CNIPA, senior representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat, heads of IP offices from ASEAN member countries, diplomats representing various embassies and consulates in China, among other industry experts from home and abroad.
