At the forefront of the global supply chain discourse, the China International Supply Chain Expo & Global Supply Chain Innovation and Development Forum held in Beijing from November 28 to December 2, 2023, in Beijing, marked a significant convergence of global leaders and innovators.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang opened the event, underscoring its stature as the world's first national-level exhibition dedicated to supply chains. His emphasis on building a collaborative, efficient, and mutually beneficial global supply chain set the tone for the event's focus on economic development and resilience.
Ms. Wang Binying, Deputy Director General of WIPO, and Mr. David Muls, Senior Director of WIPO Madrid Registry, also delivered key insights. Ms. Wang highlighted the critical role of the global supply chain in innovation, propelled by market dynamics and digital advancements, and the significance of WIPO's 27 treaties in fostering international cooperation. She noted China's leading role in the PCT system since 2019 and its growing influence under the Madrid System.
Mr. Muls, speaking at the Smart Vehicle Thematic Forum, brought into focus the intersection of intellectual property and the automotive industry. He detailed the impressive statistics of 2022 PCT applications and international filings under the Madrid and Hague Systems, illustrating the crucial support WIPO's IP services provide to the smart vehicle sector in the global market.
The Expo, with its theme "Connecting the World for a Shared Future," showcased cutting-edge technologies, products, and services across various sectors. It attracted 515 exhibitors, including a significant 26% from overseas, demonstrating the event's global reach and its role in shaping the future of international supply chains.
