WIPO Conference on the Role of Intellectual Property Offices (IPOs) in Promoting Innovation, Business Competitiveness and Economic Growth was held on February 2-3, 2012 in Tokyo, Japan in cooperation with the Japan Patent Office (JPO). WIPO Japan Office and WIPO official from headquarters moderated the Conference. Twenty-one participants, senior representatives of IPOs and senior government officials responsible for economic and trade policies, attended the conference from 13 countries of Africa, Asia and the Pacific regions. Speakers from Canada, Japan and South Africa presented cases and experiences to formulate national IP strategies and participants and speakers were actively involved in the discussion exchanging views and experiences of each country.
