World Intellectual Property Day – April 26
April 15, 2015
In 2000, WIPO's member states designated April 26 – the day on which the WIPO Convention came into force in 1970 – as World Intellectual Property Day with the aim of increasing general understanding of intellectual property.
Every year, there are many events planned around the world to celebrate the day. WIPO also
implements a variety of activities based on a specific theme for each year. This year’s theme is “
Music,” and WIPO set up a special website for World Intellectual Property Day. Please also take a
look at
an article the WIPO
Japan Office published in celebration of the day.
