Workshop for Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises on Using IP Diagnostic Tool

The WIPO Japan Office is pleased to announce a workshop on utilizing WIPO IP Diagnostics*. Mr. Shunji Sato of TMI Associates will lead the workshop, and in addition to a lecture by Mr. Sato, there will be a session where participants can receive free individual guidance from patent attorneys and experts based on the results of using the diagnostic tool.

*WIPO IP Diagnostics is an online tool provided by WIPO to diagnose IP-related risks associated with your business. The tool enables you to obtain a detailed self-assessment report in 10 areas including patents, trademarks, designs, and trade secrets.

Note: The date of the event may be postponed depending on the coronavirus pandemic situation.

  1. Opening (5 minutes)
  2. Lecture by Patent Attorney Sato: Overview of the IP system and utilization of the trademark system (30 minutes)
  3. Introduction to WIPO IP Diagnostics and other items for small- and medium-sized enterprises (10 minutes)
  4. Individual guidance: Use of the IP diagnostic tool* and individual support by Patent Attorney Sato and INPIT experts (30 minutes)
    *WIPO IP Diagnostics is available for each of 10 fields, including patents, trademarks, designs, and trade secrets. To facilitate understanding, we anticipate that participants will use the diagnostic tool in a simulated manner on the day of the seminar, using trademarks as the subject matter.
  5. Review by lecturer, including Q&A (10 minutes)
  6. Request to fill out a questionnaire (5 minutes)
    • What to bring: PC with ability to access the Internet
    • Number of participants: About 10 companies (consultations can be held with up to 2 people per company)
