From July 19 – 30, 2021, the WIPO-Nigeria Summer School – the first of its kind in Nigeria – will take place at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. The WIPO Summer Schools provide participants, who are mainly senior students (graduate students) and young professionals, with a deeper and practical knowledge of intellectual property, including the role and functions of WIPO.
Leading professionals in the field of IP, including WIPO officials, business leaders and academic experts, will facilitate the two weeks of intensive learning. The WIPO-Nigeria Summer School will also prioritize the participants’ practical exposure and engagement with the concepts through simulation exercises, and group discussions on selected IP topics.
According to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe FAS, “the great promise of the Summer School is its prospect for a short but impactful delivery of transformative IP education designed to expose its participants to the prospects of human knowledge and intellect as tools for wealth creation, entrepreneurship and societal growth and development”.
