December 10, 2021
On Thursday, December 9, 2021, WIPO Nigeria Office and the TISCs monitoring committee in Nigeria, commissioned a Technology and Innovation Center (TISC) at Innov8 Hub, an innovation startup driven organization. Innov8 Hub strategically aids organizations and individuals seeking to transform their ideas into inventions, inventions to solutions and solutions into enterprises.
This was the first of a pilot for an expansion project of the TISC network in Nigeria, as led by the TISCs Monitoring Committee – a committee comprised of representatives from the Patents and Designs Registry, the Trademarks Registry, and the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP). This TISC expansion drive is aimed at growing the network of TISCs across the country for the purpose of supporting easy access to locally based, high quality technology information for enhancing innovation through knowledge and expertise amongst researchers and innovators in Nigeria.
WIPO supports inventors and encourages innovation through TISCs, by providing inventors with hands on information on industrial property laws, industrial property management and strategy, technology commercialization and marketing. Other services offered by TISCs may include; access to online patent and non-patent (scientific and technical) resources and intellectual property related publications. Inventors have a wide range of databases to assist their search and retrieval of relevant technology information, on-demand searches to ascertain novelty, state-of-the-art and infringement of intended invention(s). The TISC centers encourage growth in the quality of innovation and ease of access to information. More information and resources on the WIPO TISC Program is available.
