On June 20, 2023, the WIPO Nigeria Office (WNO), in collaboration with The Hague Development and Promotion Section, Hague Registry, WIPO, organized a hybrid Hague Training for Staff of the National Gallery of Art as well as the Patents and Designs Registry at the United Nations House, Abuja, Nigeria.
The training commenced with Welcome remarks from the Director General of the National Gallery of Art, Mr. Ebeten William Ivara, ably represented by the Special Adviser (SA) to the Director General, Mr. Mike Ayim, the Chief Registrar of the Patents and Designs Registry, Madam Stella Ezenduka and the Director of the WIPO Nigeria Office, Oluwatobiloba Moody. This training was organized to raise further awareness of intellectual property in designs and the role of design commercialization and protection as a key driver of economic growth in Nigeria. It featured remarkable engagement amongst over 100 participants.
Training sessions introduced participants to industrial designs, the National Gallery of Art and highlighted the Registration processes in Nigeria and under The Hague Registration System. Ms. Eno-Obong Usen, Assistant Director, Patents and Designs Registry, Mr. Tony Azodoh, Zonal Coordinator, North Central Zone, National Gallery of Art, Ms. Jane Igwe, Deputy Chief Registrar, Patents and Designs Registry and Max Germeil, Associate Market Analyst, Hague Development and Promotion Section, Hague Registry, WIPO facilitated the sessions respectively.
