Russia Joins the Beijing Treaty

On August 28, 2015 the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev signed the Decree on the Accession of the Russian Federation to the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances.

According to the website of the Russian Government “Russia’s accession to the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances will enhance their protection with the account of the universal introduction of digital technology and will ensure effective protection of the rights of Russian performers during their audiovisual performances abroad”.

The instrument of accession of the Russian Federation to the Beijing Treaty was received by WIPO on October 19, 2015, thus bringing the number of ratifications/accessions to ten.
