Conference on Effective IP Management for Universities and Research Institutions

On November 13 and 14, 2018, a national conference entitled “Effective Management System of Intellectual Property for Universities and Research Institutions” took place at the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Leading experts from government and business sectors as well as universities and research institutions came together to discuss issues related to the protection, management and commercialization of intellectual property (IP).
The highlight of the event was a presentation of a customized version of the Model WIPO IP Policy Template for Universities and Research Institutions adopted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federatio. The adoption of this document marks an important milestone in the implementation of the National Project on IP Policies for Universities and Research Institutions implemented between WIPO and national stakeholders in the Russian Federation.
National project on IP policies for universities
This project aims to help universities and research institutions develop and implement IP policies. Such policies play a key role in getting discoveries from these institutions to market.
WIPO was represented by Michal Svantner, Director, Department for Transition and Developed Countries. In his speech at the plenary session, Mr. Svantner described in detail the outcomes, current state and the expected results of the National Project on IP Policies for Universities and Research Institutions in the Russian Federation.
