Sub-Regional Seminar on IP Teaching

On November 16, 2018 a Sub-Regional Seminar on IP Teaching took place at the Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property (RSAIP). The event was aimed at discussing teaching in intellectual property (IP) in light of the current trends and challenges faced by academia and industry as well as commercialization of IP assets.

The seminar was attended by leading experts from the government and business sectors, universities and research institutions, as well as by representatives from France, Moldova, Vietnam, Serbia and CIS countries. All came together to tackle issues related to teaching methodologies in IP and to share best national and international practices.

The role of the WIPO Academy

WIPO was represented by Mr. Michal Svantner, Director, Department for Transition and Developed Countries. In his presentation, Mr. Svantner described in detail the role of the WIPO Academy in training and building human capacity in IP for:

  • policy makers and government officials,
  • inventors and creators,
  • business managers and IP professionals, and
  • students and teachers of IP and civil society.

The participants were also encouraged to benefit from the distance learning programs provided by the WIPO Academy.

More than 100 participants took part in the Seminar. The event was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) and the Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property (RSAIP).
