On October 15, 2019, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted a new law on ratification of the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Specialized Agencies regarding World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) staff members

On October 24, 2019, the Federal Council of the Russian Federation agreed to adopt a law on ratification of the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Specialized Agencies regarding WIPO staff members.

Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Specialized Agencies was adopted at the UN General Assembly in 1947 aiming to create optimal conditions for the functioning of the specialized agencies of the UN system in Member States.
