World Intellectual Property Day – Innovate for a Green Future

April 24, 2020

Every April 26, WIPO celebrates World Intellectual Property Day to raise public awareness and understanding of the role that intellectual property (IP) rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity and in supporting economic, social and cultural development.

World IP Day 2020 – Innovate for a Green Future – puts innovation – and the IP rights that support it – at the heart of efforts to create a green future.

In light of the on-going global health crisis, and the need to keep everyone safe and well, this year, World Intellectual Property Day will be celebrated through virtual channels.

We therefore invite you to explore the World Intellectual Property Day web page and to find out:

Take a look at the Special Focus issue of the WIPO Magazine for a more in-depth view of the many inspiring ways individuals, companies and policymakers are coming up with solutions to tackle climate-related challenges.

World Intellectual Property Day 2020, is an opportunity to explore the role that innovation and IP rights play in opening a pathway to a green future. Share your favorite green innovations and join the global conversation on social media using #WorldIPDay.

Sign the World IP Day pledge map and let us know how you are going to help build a green future.

Our commitment, the choices we make every day, the products we buy, the research we fund, the companies we support, and the policies and laws we develop will determine how green our future is. With innovative thinking and strategic use of IP rights, sustainability is within reach.

We wish you a happy, safe and healthy World Intellectual Property Day 2020.
