Indonesian SMEs Benefit from WIPO Collaboration

In an excellent example of in-country collaboration, the WIPO Singapore Office was pleased to co-organize a webinar – Going Global: Protecting Your Brand Overseas – with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Indonesia and the Indonesian Intellectual Property Attorneys Association.

The outcome was a very practical webinar attended by over 250 Indonesian SMEs and IP professionals.

The webinar focused on the benefits of using WIPO’s Madrid System which empowers trademark owners in Indonesia to seek protection for their brand in over 120 countries with one application, paying one set of fees in one currency.

The webinar was opened by WIPO Deputy Director General Mr. Hasan Kleib who encouraged Indonesian businesses to use the Madrid System in order to seize the opportunities for overseas expansion fueled by globalization of markets, cross-border online retail flows and economic integration among the ASEAN Economic Community.
