WIPO and the ASEAN Secretariat are proud to co-organize a special briefing for ASEAN Member States on: ASEAN results and using the Global Innovation Index as a driver to enhance innovation.
This tailor-made and important event for ASEAN government officials will help enhance policy making efforts to foster more innovation in the region.
The Global Innovation Index (GII) 2021 takes the pulse of recent global innovation trends and ranks the innovation ecosystem performance of 132 economies, including all 10 ASEAN Member States. The Index highlights innovation strengths and weaknesses and particular gaps in innovation metrics in each economy.
The aim of the Global Innovation Index is to provide insightful data on innovation and, in turn, to assist economies in evaluating their innovation performance and making informed innovation policy considerations.
All over the world, policymakers are now referring to innovation and their innovation ranking as part of their economic policy strategies. The GII quantifies innovation and allows economies to assess their innovation performance. Armed with these insights, economies are well placed to invest resources to analyze their GII results in cross-ministerial task forces and use the GII to design appropriate innovation and intellectual property (IP) policies.
The webinar will feature opening remarks by WIPO Deputy Director General, Mr. Hasan Kleib (an Indonesian national), and the Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN, Mr. Satvinder Singh. There will also be presentations by the co-editor of the GII who will share data from each ASEAN member state. Presentations from ASEAN Member States who use the GII as a basis to drive policy changes will also be a highlight of the webinar.
We would encourage policy makers, government officials and interested parties from across ASEAN to register for this valuable and free webinar.
