WSO Moderates AIPPI Webinar

June 2, 2022

It was the WIPO Singapore Office’s great pleasure to moderate and share a presentation as part of the AIPPI’s “Scan the Globe” webinar series. The series concentrates on the IP landscape in a particular region, and the first edition focused on ASEAN. The series is part of celebrations for AIPPI’s 125th anniversary.

In the presentation, WSO Officer-in-charge, Mr. Peter Willimott, shared data on the trends within each ASEAN Member State in relation to resident’s use of the trademark, patent, and industrial design systems, as well as their use of WIPO services such as the PCT, Madrid System and the Hague System. The data was sourced from WIPO’s Country Profiles. Mr. Willimott also provided a review of ASEAN Member States in WIPO’s Global Innovation Index.

He interspersed each slide relating to statistics with a slide depicting a typical dish from each ASEAN Member State to whet the appetites of the 50+ attendees from around the world!

The WIPO Singapore Office has a long history of excellent collaboration with the AIPPI, and through the efforts of AIPPI Secretary General, Ms. Annie Tsoi, this will certainly continue into the future.
