Annual Lecture for the Sorbonne-Assas International Law School in Singapore

November 14, 2022

As part of an ongoing collaboration, the WIPO Singapore Office was proud to deliver our annual lectures on WIPO’s global services and our alternative dispute resolution services to students studying at the Sorbonne-Assas International Law School’s Singapore campus.

In the lecture, Senior Program Officer, Mr. Peter Willimott shared details on how the Patent Cooperation Treaty, Madrid Protocol and Hague can be used by inventors, business owners and designers all over the world to protect their valuable intellectual property.

He also shared filing trends across all three services, highlighting major users or each service, before completing his presentation with a snapshot of the 2022 Global Innovation Index.

Ms. Qiyao Dong, Associate Legal Officer in the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center -  Singapore, contributed a presentation on the benefits alternative dispute resolution offers businesses large and small. She shared that mediation, for example, offers a less adverserial approach to dispute resolution allowing parties to continue business relationships with each other.

The WIPO Singapore Office greatly appreciates the ongoing support of the Sorbonne-Assas International Law School.
