WIPO and UNIGE Sign Cooperation Agreement
March 18, 2013
WIPO Director General Francis Gurry and University of Geneva Rector Jean-Dominique Vassalli signed a cooperation agreement on March 18, 2013 to strengthen collaboration between the WIPO and the University of Geneva (UNIGE) in the field of intellectual property education and training. This is first agreement between WIPO and a Swiss university in this field.
Under the agreement, WIPO and UNIGE will jointly organize annual summer school sessions on intellectual property in Geneva, as well as conferences, workshops, symposia and other programs of common interest. The agreement also provides for the exchange of teaching materials and publications.
Each year, the WIPO Academy organizes some ten summer schools in different countries which bring together students and young professionals from all over the world for intensive learning, sharing and networking.
In addition, the agreement makes UNIGE a member of the
WIPO Depository Library Program,
under which the University will be provided with all
WIPO publications on a complimentary basis. In
this capacity the university will serve as a reference source for the general public wishing to
consult WIPO publications.
