Launch of Joint LL.M in IP at University of Ankara

On February 13, 2017, WIPO, the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TurkPatent) and Ankara University launched the first edition of the Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property (IP) with specialization in patent law and design law. More than 300 invited guests and Master’s students gathered to witness the launch of the program at TurkPatent.
This Master’s program is another excellent opportunity to address the shortage of skilled professionals in the area of patent and design law, and comprises 420 credit hours. The program will be offered every year, with an academic year running from September to June.
This first edition brings together nineteen international and national students (9 women and 10 men), from Cameroon, Egypt, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Peru, Turkey and Viet Nam.
The program was launched following the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding by Mr. Francis Gurry, Director General of WIPO, Professor Habip Asan, President of TurkPatent and Professor Erkan Ibiş, Rector of Ankara University on April 13, 2016.
