Record Number of Participants in PDP Course in South Africa

The second edition of the WIPO Academy – National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO) of South Africa Workshop on IP Innovation Policy organized under the Professional Development Program (PDP), took place in Johannesburg, South Africa from May 7 to 11, 2018, with a record number of 55 government officials from 16 countries participating in the course.
The Workshop aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of officials dealing with innovation policy and intellectual property (IP) strategies. The opening ceremony was presided over by the Executive Director of the WIPO Academy, Mr. Sherif Saadallah and the Head of NIPMO, Ms. Kerry Faul.
Topics covered
The workshop covered a range of topics under the theme of innovation and IP policies including:
- IP and Public Policy in Developing Countries;
- Methodologies for the Development of National Innovation and National Policies;
- Fundamentals of Innovation: Technological and Non-Technological Innovations; and
- IP Innovation Strategies in the Private Sector.
