Judicial Training Institutions Project Update
September 3, 2018
The WIPO Academy has completed the first round of the Judicial Training Institutions Project’s pilot trainings by collaborating with the national judicial institutions of Costa Rica, Lebanon, Nepal and Nigeria to organize intellectual property (IP) continuing education programs for members of their judiciaries.
74 magistrates, judges and other members of the judiciary from the four pilot countries participated in the IP training sessions held between June and July 2018. The program also included practical sessions on court cases and lectures on training methodologies.
The training sessions are part of the project’s aim of developing comprehensive and self-sustaining IP education tools for the judiciary of each country, taking into account national priorities and development needs. After the pilot phase, the project will enable the Academy to meet future requests for IP continuing education programs for the judiciary in other WIPO Member States.
