First WIPO-ARIPO Training of Trainers

The WIPO Academy in partnership with the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) organized the first training of trainers from June 17 to 21 in Harare, Zimbabwe to support and strengthen the ARIPO Academy. In cooperation with the WIPO Academy under the Intellectual Property Training Institutions project, the ARIPO Academy aims to be a regional training center of excellence on intellectual property (IP).
Thirty-three IP experts participated in the module of the training of trainers on IP teaching methodologies for the ARIPO Academy. The first module was conducted by Mr. Enrico Bonadio, Senior Lecturer in Law and Deputy Associate Dean at the Law School of City University of London, Mr. Adel Ewida, IP expert and former President of the Egyptian Patent Office and Mr. Raban Masuka, Senior Lecturer, Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Zimbabwe. Further modules of the training of trainers will take place in Ghana, Tanzania and at ARIPO Headquarters by 2020.
