October 7, 2019
The WIPO Academy signed a cooperation agreement with the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of IP (Indecopi) of Peru on October 2, 2019 in the margins of the WIPO Assemblies. The cooperation agreement aims to provide support and assistance for capacity building in the field of intellectual property (IP), particularly in relation to the youth and their teachers.
The Agreement was signed by Mr. Ivo Gagliuffi Piercechi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Indecopi and Mr. Sherif Saadallah, Executive Director of the WIPO Academy.
What does the agreement cover?
The Agreement focuses on enhancing cooperation in the area of IP teaching and training through the Distance Learning Program, which includes the organization of joint national and regional trainings on teaching IP aimed at schoolteachers, curriculum developers and policy makers using IP4Youth&Teachers.
Under this cooperation, the third edition of the annual IP4Youth&Teachers Intellectual Property Impact Certificate Course (IPCC) is scheduled to take place in Peru in December 2019 for Latin America and selected countries from the Caribbean. The IPCC will enable teachers, curriculum developers and education policy makers from the region to have practical and hands on workshops with IP and innovation experts, to collaborate with peers, and create networks amongst each other.
The cooperation also encapsulates the translation of IP4Youth&Teachers into Spanish, the customization of the content for the region, and the exchange of training materials.
