WIPO Director General Francis Gurry signed cooperation agreements during the 2019 Assemblies with Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and the Dhahi Khalfan Intellectual Property Center of the Emirates Intellectual Property Society (United Arab Emirates). The agreements support the development of tailored intellectual property (IP) training solutions at the national level.
On October 2, 2019 Dr. Abdulaziz Al Swailem, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), signed a cooperation agreement with Director General Gurry.
Under this agreement, the WIPO Academy will assist SAIP in creating a self-sustainable national IP training center (NIPTC) to respond to the increasing national demand for IP knowledge from both the public and private sectors in Saudi Arabia.
On October 3, 2019 Mr. Taras Kachka, the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Trade, signed a cooperation agreement with Director General Gurry.
Under the agreement, the WIPO Academy will assist Ukraine in creating a self-sustaining NIPTC to support capacity building and educational activities on IP in the country.
On October 3, 2019 Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, signed a cooperation agreement with Director General Gurry.
The agreement paves the way for the WIPO Academy and the Dhahi Khalfan IP Center of the Emirates IP Society to organize joint IP training activities aimed at promoting creativity and innovation through the effective use of the IP system.
