Twenty-four Brazilian tutors were trained, given the recent transfer of the management and administration of four additional advanced distance learning (DL) courses on intellectual property (IP) in Portuguese to INPI- Brazil. The newly trained tutors will be responsible for and evaluating participants in:

  • The Advanced DL Course on Patents (DL-301);
  • The Advanced DL Course on Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications (DL-302);
  • The Advanced DL Course on Patent Information Search (DL-318); and
  • The Advanced DL Course on the Basics of Patent Drafting (DL-320).

The tutors included IP experts from INPI-Brazil and the Secretariat of Copyright and IP in Brazil, alongside PhD students from Brazilian universities specializing in IP who will receive academic credits for tutoring the DL courses in Portuguese.

Ms. Altaye Tedla Desta, Head of the WIPO Academy DL Program, led the tutor training, and covered numerous eLearning topics such as instructional design, course planning, DL methodology, student profile analysis and the application of new DL tools.
