Conference on IP Teaching in the Slovak Republic

A Sub-Regional Conference on Intellectual Property (IP) Teaching for the benefit of the Central European Baltic States Region was held in Banská Bystrica, the Slovak Republic, from November 14 to 15, 2019.
Twenty-two regional representatives involved in IP education and Slovak teachers took part in the conference, which was jointly organized by WIPO, the Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic, and the National Institute for Education of the Slovak Republic.
What did the conference cover?
The blended learning program consisted of an online phase of IP4Youth&Teachers, followed by face-to-face interactive lessons by IP and pedagogical experts in English and Slovak covering:
- Different IP teaching methodologies;
- An introduction to copyright, patents and trademarks in schools;
- How to build IP lesson plans and learning outcomes for primary and secondary schools;
- The theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ);
- Customizing IP education based on the experience in Georgia; and
- Best practices from Romania on government policies on IP education.
