The WIPO Academy first achieved gender parity among its participants in 2014, and is proud of its consistent record. The Academy will continue to develop training and skills-building programs that focus on intellectual property (IP) and women and girls. An active effort is placed on increasing the role of women in delivering those programs, and promoting targeted activities that help achieve equal participation of women and girls in science. The Academy is collaborating with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to organize activities in 2022 to strengthen women scientists and innovators’ capacities to protect and commercialize IP resulting from scientific research.
