The Iconic LL.M. in IP with the University of Turin Gets Revamped

The WIPO Academy’s longest running graduate program, the Joint Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property (IP) offered with the University of Turin now has a revamped focus on IP for business management and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

On May 24, 2022 WIPO Deputy Director General Hasan Kleib signed a new memorandum of understanding with Professor Stefano Geuna, the Rector of the University of Turin; Professor Roberto Cavallo Perin, the President of the Consortium for Research and Permanent Education; and Mr. Davide Caregnato, the Executive Director of the Turin School of Management to offer a new version of the LL.M. in IP.

The LL.M. in IP will be offered under new partnerships and with an updated curriculum. The new curriculum builds on fundamental legal concepts to address emerging issues pertaining to how businesses, entrepreneurs and creators can use the IP system to support job creation for economic growth and development.

The next graduating class

Applications are now being accepted for the next edition of the LL.M., which will run from August 29, 2022 to August 27, 2023. Candidates must apply on the WIPO Academy website and the University of Turin website by July 21, 2022 to be considered for the program.

The new LL.M. in IP will consist of WIPO and University of Turin distance learning phases, followed by a residential phase in Turin, and a final research project. Students enrolled in the LL.M. in IP will benefit from a conference on topical issues during the last week of the residential phase, and a study visit to WIPO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The LL.M. in IP has had over 700 graduates since its establishment in May 2000 and its alumni network boasts directors of national and regional IP offices, entrepreneurs, inventors, leading IP academics, and IP professionals in the private sector.
